Frequently Asked Questions

Our Tesla vehicles are available at major airports in: Honolulu, Austin, Phoenix, Houston, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Tampa, San Jose, San Francisco, Chicago, Sarasota, Santa Ana, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Orlando, Seattle, Sacramento, Oakland, Bradley, Boston, New York and Las Vegas among others.
Electric vehicles must be charged at public charging stations or Tesla Superchargers. You may be required to register or create an account at some of these locations, and you will be responsible for any required registration (including acceptance of the terms and conditions and privacy policy) as well as any administrative fees.
Press the button on the Tesla charging connector to open the charging port. You can also open the charging port from the touchscreen inside or by pressing on the port cover when the vehicle is unlocked. The white indicator means the vehicle is ready to start charging. After plugging in, a blue indicator will indicate that your vehicle is getting ready to charge. When the indicator turns green, charging is in progress.
You will be able to check the battery charge status, both percentage and time remaining, from the vehicle's touch screen. Steady green indicates that the charge is complete. If it is flashing green, it indicates that the charging process is in progress. Finally, solid amber indicates that the charging connector is not properly plugged in.
With Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y you can drive up to 500 km on a full charge. Drivers can choose to check the range of the vehicle with the level of percentage of remaining battery power or, as remaining kilometers that can be driven. The actual range of each Tesla depends on many factors, especially your environment and personal driving habits.
The vehicle will be delivered to you with a minimum charge of up to 70%. Please note that the range of each vehicle varies depending on the charge level of each unit, personal driving actions, speed, acceleration, weather and terrain factors (such as slopes, for example).
The rented electric vehicle must be returned with at least 70% charge in its battery. In case of returning the vehicle with a battery charge level lower than 70% but higher than 10%, a recharge fee of USD 35 will be applied. In case of returning the vehicle with a charge level lower than 10%, the recharge fee will be USD 70. The recharge fee is based on kilowatt hours and the costs incurred by Avis or Budget for loss of use of the unit and recharging of the vehicle.
Due to specific infrastructure needs associated with electric vehicles, Tesla vehicles, as well as any other make and model, must be returned to the same location where you initiate your rental. Otherwise, charges may apply for the transfer of the vehicle to this office and you will be charged a penalty equivalent to one extra day of rental (up to a maximum of 30 days) for each day that the process of transferring the unit from the rental location where it would have been returned to the pick up rental location is delayed.
Although the Roadside Assistance service is available for all our electric vehicles, you will not be able to use the fuel supply. In case you need roadside assistance because your vehicle has run out of battery power, we will tow you to the office where your rental starts and you will be responsible for the corresponding expenses. In the event that you need assistance for another type of breakdown, you may be assigned another gasoline vehicle. Please note that you are not authorized to request private towing services for our electric vehicles. All towing services must be provided by an authorized rig and requested through Roadside Assistance.
When returning an electric vehicle you must return the battery recharging equipment, keys or key cards, key fobs and/or remote controls according to the make and model of vehicle rented. Remember that LDW does not cover the cost for the replacement of any electric battery recharging equipment not returned, being the owner driver fully responsible. In turn, you will be responsible for any damage to the electric vehicle and battery recharging equipment during the duration of your rental (excluding possible damage due to malfunction of the unit, recharging equipment or battery recharging station).
While charging stations are available throughout the United States, you will be able to use Tesla Superchargers, subject to geographic availability, to charge our vehicles. However, any costs for the use of these Superchargers or charges for inactivity during the charging process will be borne by Avis or Budget and will be billed to you plus a 2.3% administrative fee. These charges may not appear immediately on your statement and may be charged to your payment method at a later date due to internal processing and billing requirements. See the Tesla website for more information on these charges (https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharger-idle-fee).
Tesla vehicles, as well as any other electric vehicle, cannot be washed in automatic washing services. Any damage caused for this reason will be subject to the application of an administrative penalty for damage and/or loss of the vehicle and will not be covered by LDW. If you do not take out LDW and use any other personal insurance or insurance provided by your credit card, it is your responsibility to ensure that it provides coverage for electric vehicles and/or their components or accessories.
